Google has munged our nice bookmarks list, so it doesn't work any more. Pixies have been working late transferring the nice bookmarks over to a new site where we can organise and share them fairly easily. It may be that some schools and local authorities have filtering which blocks access: we'd be interested in hearing how your requests to have it unblocked turn out. We have put one into Fife this afternoon.
UPDATE: The Diigo bookmark thing didn't work very well, so we've ditched it. It still works, but is not likely to be kept up to date. What we've done this afternoon is to make a new page on the sptr wiki that's currently in development, which is easier to update and simpler to use. The links on this page have been updated, so you can...
Click the link on the left to find the new list, or click here. Or scan this on your brick:

There are new resources in the CfE folder for activities relating to the electromagnetic spectrum. SSERC have been especially helpful with a document describing 30 experiments you can do, which includes some great background reading for you to provide rich context to this fascinating area of physics. There are guides on adapting a webcam and examples of what others have been producing for this topic.
Thanks as always to the contributors! |

Roger Dwane at Falkirk has sent us some new material for review and adaptation for the revise Higher. Find it here. You'll obviously need to be registered, logged in and approved for access. Roger says:
"Any feedback would be welcome but the topic I am most interested to hear comments on (good or bad) is ‘Electrons at Work’. It seemed to me that the original material had some weaknesses that I have tried to correct. Its only about 30 years since I studied solid state physics and it is obviously still simplified but I think the model is about right."
Please take a look if you're involved in the revised Higher. Roger can be contacted on SPUTNIK or via the contact link above - please mark your comments for Roger's attention and we'll make sure he gets them. |

... and there's now some new stuff from Nick F on Particles and Waves, also in the Higher 2011 folder.
Nick's also shared a breakdown of the draft Unit Specs for National 4 and 5 for Physics, Chemistry and Biology to help you get your head around just exactly how on Earth you're going to begin delivering courses for your current S2 when they start next session, in some cases just six weeks after the arrangements are published in the spring of next year.
The message seems to be "Don't Panic". Where have we heard that before? |

Jennie from Lockerbie has given us permission to share her magnificent S2 Electricity unit: a collection of lessons and resources making up a fantastic learning experience! Jennie says, "We have taken a practical approach and like all things it involves a dolls house!". It's a first-class piece of work and a typically generous gesture that she is prepared to share with the community.
Find the files in the CfE folder. |
